Muhlenberg County : Rails to Trails

6 mile stretch through Greenville, Powderly, and Central City

The Muhlenberg County “Rails to Trails’ is an extremely popular trail that links Greenville, Powderly, and Central City together.  It is used frequently by residents throughout the county.  From Greenville it runs along Highway 62 then turns into the woods in Powderly, runs through the everglades and then back into the woods of Central City, finally letting out at the Central City Convention Center.  The Trail is used by walkers, runners, and cyclists.  No motor vehicles allowed.  The trail is marked and runs 6 miles one way with frequent benches to rest and enjoy the surroundings.

Future Plans

The Greater Muhlenberg Parks and Recreation System is partnering with the County to improve this much used county asset.  In the near future we plan on replacing all the old benches and receptacles plus widening the whole trail to 10 ft.  We are also looking into more lighting and the possibility of linking the trail to the West Campus High School and new County Park in the near future.
